Obituary of Leon Williams

Our loving father, 76, of Charlotte, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, in the Harris Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. He was born August 11, 1936, in Mt. Holly, NC, a son of the late Horace and Zella Nolan Williams. Leon was a U.S. Army veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division and was a retired supervisor with Bowman and Dunn Manufacturing, where he was employed for almost fifty years. After his wife of 22 years, Barbara passed away in 1990; Leon still maintained the family home as a place for extended family and friends to gather. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his six children, Ellen Depew, Sherry Ratliff, Steve and David Williams, Laurie Therrell and Terri Howard; brother, Mack Williams; Ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral service for Mr. Williams will be held 1:00 PM Friday, October 12, 2012 in the Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service with the Reverend Farrell Lemings officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
