Obituary of Phong Nguyen

Phong Huu Nguyen, 85, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital ? Main. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 4207 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215. The family will be receiving guests on Wednesday the 24th from 5-7 PM, Thursday from 5 ? 8:30 PM and Friday evening from 5-7 PM at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home. Phong was born June 29, 1927, in Vietnam to Quyen Nguyen and Can Bui. He lived a simple life, loving his parents, wife, children and all his family. He lived responsibly and believed in doing things the right way. He served in the Vietnamese army until 1975. Phong believed strongly in Jesus Christ, strong education, good behavior, and helping others. Phong is survived by his children, Mai Phuong, My Phi, Huu Phuc, and My Phuong; son in laws, Dung Hoang and Soan Vo; daughter in law, Lan Luong; nieces, Phi Yen, Yen Nhi, and Yen Nhu; nephews, Vinh Vo and Khoa Nguyen. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nhu Mai Nguyen; sisters, Kim Cuc Nguyen, Thi Nguyen and Quy Nguyen; and one brother, Thu Huu Nguyen.
