Obituary of Joseph Headen

Joseph Patrick Headen, Jr., 53, of Matthews, died Monday, October 22, 2012, at his home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at Elmwood Cemetery in Charlotte. Visitation will be held from 6:00 ? 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Presbyterian Hospice & Palliative Care, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233. Joe was born March 11, 1959, in Mecklenburg County, the son of Joseph Patrick and Geraldine (Martin) Headen. He grew up in North Charlotte and graduated from Garinger High School. He attended Appalachian State University and East Carolina University. Joe was a very avid golfer. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Jenkins Headen of Matthews; two sons, Joseph Patrick Headen III and Jonathan Glenn Headen, both of Matthews; mother-in-law, Frances Jenkins of Matthews; and his beloved four-legged friend, Izzy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved four-legged friend, Jamie Lee.
