Obituary of William Sings

William Bennett Sings, 84, of Charlotte, died Monday, October 29, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center ? Northeast in Concord. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Newell Presbyterian Church, 1500 Rocky River Road West, Charlotte, NC 28213, with The Rev. Brad Busiek officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Newell Presbyterian Church. Bill was born May 20, 1928, in Wadesboro, NC, the son of Thomas and Eunice (Duncan) Sings. He graduated from Morven High School. He married Mary Lou Kester in 1951 and had one daughter, Janet. Bill worked for CSX Railroad for 38 years. He enjoyed racing and even owned a racecar. Bill was an active member of Newell Presbyterian Church for 48 years. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Lou Sings of Charlotte; daughter, Janet (Andy) Jenkins of Concord, NC; grandson, Matthew Jenkins of Carborro, NC; sister, Barbara Cartrette of Mint Hill, NC; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Norma Hoffmeyer, Thomas Sings, Evelyn Jones and Vernelle Smith.
