Obituary of Judith Rock Little

Judith Ann Rock Little Judy Little, 73, of Charlotte, NC, died Tuesday, November 13, 2012. A Charlotte native, Judy was born on August 4, 1939, daughter of the late Lester and Louise Myers Rock. She graduated from East Mecklenburg High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following graduation she moved to California and would later receive a master?s degree in nursing from the Sonoma State University. Judy worked in Santa Rosa at the Community Hospital where one of her patients would be none-other than the cartoonist and creator of the Peanuts comic strip, Charles Schultz. She returned to Charlotte in 1992 and married Butch Little two years later. Judy worked at Mecklenburg Medical Group in Charlotte until her retirement in 2007. She loved painting, golf and gardening. A dear friend described Judy in the following way. ?She was a wonderful person, a fantastic nurse, and a friend to all of us?no matter where she lived. Her heart was always with us?and ours with her.? In addition to her husband, Butch, Judy is survived by two sons; Nels Johnson and his wife, Dena of Millbrae, CA and Michael Johnson and his wife, Veronica of San Francisco, CA; two step-sons, Rich Little and is wife, Tasse and Eric Little and his wife, Betsy, all of Charlotte, NC; ten grandchildren, Erik and Paul Johnson, Charlotte and Audrey Johnson, Will, Jake, Ben and Sam Little, and Ginnie and Katie Little; and a sister, Linda Sing and her husband, Bill of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina. A memorial service to celebrate Judy?s life will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends at Myers Park Country Club immediately follow the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Charles M. Schultz Foundation, 1 Snoopy Place, Santa Rosa, CA 95403.
