Obituary of Katherene Poulos

Katherene Katsoudas Poulos Mrs. Poulos passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at White Oak Manor. She was born January 25, 1924 in Klapsion, Evrytania, Greece, the only child of the late Georgios and Vasiliki Katsoudas. Katherene was preceded in death by her husband, Spiros D. Poulos. She emigrated from Greece in 1954, living in Fayetteville NC for almost two years before making Charlotte her permanent home. She loved her family and her church, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral where she was very actively involved her entire life. She was a lifelong member of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society of Holy Trinity, serving on the board for many years. Katherene is survived by her three children, Bessie Vrettos and husband, Costa, James S. Poulos and wife, Kelley and George S. Poulos and her seven grandchildren, Nicholas, George and Athan Vrettos, Christian, Alexander and Katherine Poulos and Theodore and Victoria Poulos and four great grandchildren, Dean, Elena, John and Christopher Vrettos. The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers of White Oak Manor of Charlotte. The family will receive friends at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral on Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 1:00 to 2:00PM. The Trisagion and funeral service will follow at 2:00PM. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Agia Elpis Ladies Philoptochos Society of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 600 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203 or the Iconography Fund of St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church, 5108 Kuykendall Rd., Charlotte NC 28270. May her memory be eternal.
