Walter Wilson Richbourg, Jr. ?For death is no more than a turning of us over from time to eternity.? William Penn Walter Richbourg of Charlotte passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on November 16, 2012. He was born February 9, 1931 in Forest City, NC. He was the only son of Walter Wilson Richbourg and Alpha Bolt Richbourg. He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Maxine Richbourg. Walter never met a stranger?He loved telling stories, meeting new people and making them smile. Walt served in the Navy during the Korean War, 1951-55... much of his time spent on the Kearsarge. He attended Pfeiffer College and began his career at American Credit Corporation in uptown Charlotte. For many years, he enjoyed body surfing, swimming, exploring Charlotte on his bicycle and camping with his family and friends. He was a creative influence to many, especially his daughter. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Anna Richbourg of York, SC. The family appreciates all who supported his journey, particularly in the past four years. A Celebration of Life in his honor and memory will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2 pm in the Terry Chapel at Dilworth United Methodist Church, 605 East Blvd. Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends for 30 minutes before the service at the church.
