Obituary of James Locke

Charlotte - James Patrick Locke, 54, passed away at home on November 28, 2012. Jim was a native Charlottean, born in Charlotte?s Presbyterian Hospital on June 9, 1958. He was raised by his parents, Patricia Shaver Locke Williamson and the late Howard Locke, both of Charlotte. He attended school in Mecklenburg County, first at Dilworth Elementary School, then West Charlotte High School, and later Central Piedmont Community College. Jim spent over 25 years in the investment business serving individual clients while employed by Dean Witter Reynolds, Smith Barney and Capital Guardian. He had an acute mind, a gentle and generous heart that gave him a willingness to assist people in need. He enjoyed preparing and serving large meals for his boys and friends at Christ School in Arden, NC and at picnics at St. Peters Episcopal Church where he was an active member. He took pleasure in the outdoors, relishing fishing at Sunset Beach with family and friends. Jim loved animals, especially cats and dogs. He had passionate enthusiasm for watching TV sports, especially games involving UNC ? CH. Jim is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lynn Brissie Locke, and three sons, Steven Sean Locke and his wife Sabrina and their son, Andrew Locke, sons Christopher William Locke and James Patrick Locke II. Also surviving is his loving mother, Patricia Locke Williamson and stepfather, William H. Williamson III. Jim was preceded in death by his two older brothers, John Locke and Captain Steven Floyd Locke. Other family members included his sister-in-law, Linda Rico Locke and her daughter Nicola Rico Locke. The funeral will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Home, 1111 East Boulevard in Charlotte. The visitation will be Tuesday, December 4, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts honoring Jim may be made in his memory to Christ
