Obituary of Jane Thornton

Mrs. Jane Hamilton Thornton, age 88, of Greensboro, NC died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at WhiteStone Community Care Center. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208. Memorials may be directed to WhiteStone, a Masonic and Eastern Star Community, 700 S. Holden Road, Greensboro, NC 27407. Mrs. Thornton was born April 10, 1924 to the late John and Bess (Utley) Hamilton in Louisville, KY. She received her education from Charlotte, NC schools. Jane was a 50 year member of Mizpah Chapter #36 Order of the Eastern Star, Areme Shrine #3, and a lifetime member of Mulberry Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Sally Sharpe of Winston-Salem, NC; 3 nieces, Beverly Scott, Cindi Hunter, and Betsy Shields, all of Winston-Salem; one nephew, Donny Hamilton of Greenwich, Connecticut; and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Donald E. Hamilton; and her nephew, David Hamilton.
