Obituary of Dorothy Jarrell

Dorothy Chadwick Jarrell Mrs. Jarrell, 83, of Charlotte, passed away on December 26, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 3, 1929 in Greenville, Mississippi, daughter of the late A.B. Chadwick and Mae Claughten Chadwick. Mrs. Jarrell graduated as a nurse from Tuerro Infirmary in New Orleans, Louisiana. While working at the Regional Blood Center in New Orleans she met Dr. William A. Jarrell, Jr. and they were married for over 60 years. Dr. and Mrs. Jarrell settled in Charlotte, NC where she became active in St. Patrick?s parish as a Sunday school teacher, Girl Scout den mother and many other groups. Mrs. Jarrell was also active with Dental Auxiliary where she served for one year as President. In addition to her husband of over 60 years, she is survived by her children, William A. Jarrell, III and his wife Sarah, Anne E. Jarrell, Mary Helen Reid and her husband, Andy, John C. Jarrell and his wife, Kathleen, Dorothy J. Lacy and her husband, Steve, Daniel R. Jarrell and David A. Jarrell; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bebe Halford of Forrest, MS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Rd., Charlotte, NC 28211, with Father Frank O?Rourke, celebrant. Interment is private. The family will receive friends following the mass in the church fellowship hall.
