Obituary of Annaliese Clemmer

Annaliese Clemmer Anneliese Clemmer was born on September 19, 1919 in East Prussia/Pommern, Germany, the daughter of Edouard and Marie Schneiter Müller. She became a naturalized citizen in May 1946. Anneliese danced on the stages of theaters from coast to coast. She lent her talent to the first Charlotte Opera production of ?Rosalinda.? She also choreographed several other productions in the company?s early years. Ms. Clemmer taught ballet and was in charge of the dance department of the school founded by her husband, Leonard. The Clemmer School of Gymnastics stood on Park Road for fifty years and is now located on Southern Loop Boulevard in Pineville. Many Carolinians have trained at Clemmer?s and particularly native Charlotteans remember Leonard and Anneliese with affection. Leonard preceded her in death in January 1995. Survivors include son Leonard Clemmer Jr. and daughter-in-law Michele, son Ronald Clemmer, daughter Risé and son-in-law Larry Spivack, grandsons Anton and Misha Spivack, and daughter Erika and son-in-law Mundaka Lee of New York. Funeral services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Visitation will be immediately afterwards at the Clubhouse, 8469 Olde Troon Drive, Charlotte 28277. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the charity of your choice.
