Obituary of James Hunter

James Hunter ?Jim? Jim Hunter, age 82, passed away on December 29, 2012, in Charlotte, NC, with his family at his side. Jim and his wife Laurie recently moved permanently to Vero Beach, FL, after forty-five years of raising a family in their McLean, VA home. Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force for 14 years, followed by 23 years of service with the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the Elks and an active, lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Edward Douglas White Council in Arlington, VA. For many years, Jim volunteered in a number of community activities with the Knights, including his favorite, the Thanksgiving Day Charity Meals. He also served as a Waiters' Captain, the Bingo Chairman, and was a founding member of the 4:30 Club at the Knight's bar. Jim loved his wife, his family, the Redskins, telling stories, golf, and a good scotch. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his loving wife Laurie and their children, Marguerite (David) Rupar, James (Cathy) Hunter, Marilyn (Craig) Jarvill, and Michael (Donna) Hunter, as well as 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, January 3, 2013 at The Cathedral of St. Patrick, 1621 Dilworth Road East, Charlotte, NC 28203, with Father Christopher Roux, Celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in The Garden of Honor at Sharon Memorial Park.
