Obituary of Richard Walker

Richard Stanley Walker ?Rick? Rick Walker, age 59, died peacefully at home on December 31, 2012, surrounded by family members after a gallant and brave battle with pancreatic cancer. Rick was born January 4, 1953 to Peggy McNeil Walker and the late Calvin Stanley Walker. He graduated from Myers Park High School in 1971 and from NC State in 1975. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity at NCSU and President of its NCSU chapter during his senior year. Rick was an electronics ?wizard?, able to fix anything. He opened his own company, Walker Electronic Solutions & Technology, LLC and operated it from home for the last couple of years. As much as he loved tinkering, he was even more devoted to his family. Rick married his best friend, Stephanie Nedell in 1991 and together they raised their beloved son Samuel Jacob. Besides Stephanie and Sam, Rick is survived by his mother, his sister Leigh Baggs, brother Reid Walker and niece Jamie L. Baggs. He will be greatly missed by many beloved uncles, aunts and cousins. A memorial service celebrating the life of this wonderful man will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Road, Charlotte, NC 28211.The family will receive friends following the service in the rotunda at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to either The Jimmy V Foundation or to Providence Baptist Church.
