Obituary of Phyllis Hammand Forehand

Phyllis Hammand Forehand Mrs. Forehand, 92, of Charlotte, NC passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013 at The Carriage Club of Charlotte. She was born in Canada on August 28, 1920 to the late William and Theodore Hammand. Phyllis met her husband, John Forehand, in 1943 and they were married June 20, 1944. After her husband was released from active duty in 1946, they settled in Quincy, Massachusetts. Her husband was recalled to active duty on May 1, 1951. She accompanied him on eight state side assignments and a tour of duty in Turkey before settling into Charlotte in May of 1967. She was active with the Officers Wives Club and served as President of the club in Denver, Colorado. Phyllis was also a former member of St. John's Baptist Church. Mrs. Forehand is survived by her husband of 69 years, John Forehand of Charlotte, NC; son, John Jr. and wife, Sharon, of Arden, NC; daughter, Judith Tice and husband, Lee, of Indian Trail, NC; four grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. A private entombment will be held at Sylvan Abbey Mausoleum at Forest Lawn East in Matthews, NC, with Dr. Buddy Pigg of Mount Harmony Baptist Church officiating.
