Obituary of Susan Steveson Griffin

Susan Stevenson Griffin "Susie" Mrs. Griffin, 88, of Charlotte died Monday, February 25, 2013 at Asbury Care Center in Charlotte, NC. She was born in Chester County, SC September 12, 1924, daughter of the late Boyce and Civilla Shannon Stevenson. Susie grew up in Charlotte and was a 1942 graduate of Old Central High School. She attended Kings Business College and retired from the purchasing department of Duke Power after forty years of service. Mrs. Griffin was a member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church and worked as a volunteer at Mercy South Hospital. In addition to her parents Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her husband, Elliott in 1997 and her sister, Betty Moneyhan. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Genny Griffin; special cousin, Anne Laney and husband, Randy and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service for Mrs. Griffin will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Sharon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Asbury Care Center Residence assistance fund c/o Aldersgate, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, NC 28215 or the charity of the donor's choice.
