Michael Levine posted a condolence

Dear Mary & Family,
We are very sorry for your loss. I met Rex when he was at Harte-Hanks and I was at MetLife. He helped us solve some important business problems and he became one of my best friends. I am glad our friendship continued after that.
I was always impressed by his energy, focus, dedication and enthusiasm. It is gratifying but not surprising to read that he continued smiling and persevering in his last months.
We will always remember the delightful days at your lake house in New Hampshire.
Our sincerest condolences and love to all of you,
Michael Levine and Selina Wang, and Tom and Andy

Rex was an amazing person, caring, giving, loving, very talented in many areas. My main connection to Rex was through music.
At St. Christopher School in Nashua, Rex asked if I would be interested in re-starting a band program that had been dormant for a few years, so that Lukas could enjoy learning to play the saxophone. Lukas and his friends were a terrific bunch of young music students and those years with them in the band at St. Chris are among my favorites. The other musical connection was much longer lasting, when Rex joined the Hollis Town Band and also took private sax lessons with me. Rex loved playing in the band and he eventually joined the board of officers. While on the board, Rex was instrumental in changing the way the band approached its finances, and what Rex taught the band has ensured that the band has been able to thrive and will continue to do so. Musically Rex's enthusiasm was second to none and even though I and the band were sad when Rex and Mary moved south to be closer to Lukas and Rex in the Maryland/D.C. area, I was very happy when we would speak on the phone and Rex would tell me of his various musical activities.
Rex was such a bright spot in the world and we are all better off for having known him.
On behalf of the Hollis Town Band I wish to share our condolences and sadness at Rex's passing and hope that all the great things about him will continue to make Mary and the boys and their families feel the warmth of Rex's love.
Sincerely, David H. Bailey
