Obituary of John L. Dunmore

Mr. John Linzy Dunmore, son of the late Johnnie Dunmore and Viola Dunmore was born on December 14, 1944, in Georgetown, South Carolina. Mr. Dunmore entered eternal rest on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

John graduated from Choppee High School in June 1964. He received an associate degree in Applied Science from King’s College in 1977, post serving two years in United States Army, continuing his service in the United States Army Reserves. He was also a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

He leaves to cherish his memory his former wife Carolyn Dunmore, three amazing children Mrs. Michelle (Buni) Willis and Mr. Michael (Yolonda) Dunmore both of Durham North Carolina and Ms. Sonya McNeil of Atlanta, Georgia, five loving grandchildren, Micah Willis, Makayla Willis, Keisha Faison, Autumn McNeil, Austin McNeil, and one great grandchild Jayden Faison, One sister, Mrs. Annie Robinson of Andrews, South Carolina, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

John's family will receive friends at 11:00 A. M. on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023 at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203. A funeral service celebrating John's life will be held at 1:00 P. M. in the funeral home's chapel with a reception to follow.

John will be interred at Salisbury National Cemetery with military honors in a private service held by his beloved family.
