Obituary of Frances Meinfelter Clark

Frances Meinfelter-Clark, 95, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, August 26th, 2023. Born January 8th, 1928 in Circleville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Edith and Ralph Meinfelter.

Frances lived a full and rewarding life. She loved living in Charlotte where she raised four children, enjoyed many grandchildren, made life-long friends, being an Avon representative for many years, caring for her for her African violets, her weekly hair appointments with lunch afterwards but what she cherished the most was doing it all with her husband of 55 years.  Even though Frances enjoyed her life in Charlotte, she also enjoyed traveling to their beach cottage at Surfside Beach to enjoy the sun and the many friends they’d made over the years plus travelling and camping in their motorhome to many NASCAR races throughout the Southeast.  What many folks didn’t know about Frances, she was an avid NASCAR fan knowing who she wanted to win, all the drivers names and who had the winning team.  She was also a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Frances is survived by her children, son Michael Clark (Susan), daughter Carol Bell (Jerry), daughter Marcia Stilwell (John), daughter Sherri Clark, 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Edith Meinfelter, her sister Katherine Ann Meinfelter and her husband, Thomas William Clark.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203. Services will follow at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel and interment will be private.

The family wants to thank all the wonderful caregivers at Aldersgate United Methodist Retirement Community (UMRC).  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aldersgate UMRC, Guardian Angel Fund, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, NC 28215.
