Obituary of Alice Lyle Charles

Alice Lyle Moomaw Charles

Age 94, of Conicville, VA, passed peacefully Friday night, August 25, 2023, at her residence in Charlotte, NC with her children by her side. Alice is the daughter of the late Lester T. Moomaw and Clara Dellinger Moomaw of Conicville, VA.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lt. Col. Harry M. Charles Sr. (U.S. Army) a veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.

Alice is survived by her two children, Jan Cook of Charlotte, NC and Harry M. Charles Jr. and his wife Kim Smith of Durham, NC; grandchildren William (Billy) Caldwell, Noah Kelley, and Phoenix Charles; great-grandchildren Lila, Elijah, and Addison; and grand doggies Bridget and Gidget.

A gathering will take place 6 to 8pm, Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.

Interment will be private in Salisbury National Cemetery.
