Obituary of Mary Josephine Caldwell

Josephine S. Caldwell was born on April 17, 1930. She was the daughter of the late John Raymond Snyder and Buena Tadlock Snyder.

She graduated from Central High School, Mars Hill College, and Wake Forest University. She went to Wake Forest Medical Center, where she was leading to a degree in medical technology.

Mrs. Caldwell was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. She was the supervisor of the chemistry department at Wake Forest School of Medicine, University of Medicine at Ann Arbor, Michigan, Touro Infirmary Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. While in college, she received a minor in music, and she directed several church choirs. She was a member of Selwyn Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the women's work.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Caldwell, Sr; brother, Nelson Snyder; sister, Jean Huffman; sister, Virginia Roberts of Port St. Lucia, Florida; and son, Donald H. Caldwell, Jr.

She is survived by two sons; Jeffrey S. Caldwell, and wife Dyan; Stephen A. Caldwell; wife of the late Donald H. Caldwell, Jr., Barbara K. Caldwell; one granddaughter, Emily A. Caldwell; two grandsons, David A. Caldwell, and Samuel H. Caldwell of Charlotte.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church, in Charlotte, NC. Online condolences may be made via the Tribute Wall provided.

A private/family graveside service will be held at Sharon Memorial on Saturday, February 4, 2023. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mary will be held at Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 11:00 am.
