Obituary of David M. Earnhardt

Mr. Earnhardt, age 80, of Charlotte went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 22, 2022. He was born May 2, 1942 in Charlotte, NC, the son of the late Lloyd M. and Bobbie Nell Earnhardt. Mr. Earnhardt graduated from Garinger High School in 1960. After graduation he joined the Air Force, then went on to receive numerous college degrees. He retired as a Vice President in finance. Mike loved his special family at the Kimberlee where he resided. His extended family also included Blackhawk Hardware at the Park Rd. Shopping Center. Mike was an expert on the history of Charlotte, took pride in his city, and never missed a day of driving through the heart of the city. He loved his family and was very close to his brother Douglas and his niece Traci. He enjoyed movies, holiday dinners at the club, writing, and good conversation with friends. Over the years he was called The Mayor of Park Road, Mr. Mike, and Movie Mike. He will always be remembered for his smile, kindness, and stories. Mike was also a lifelong member of Calvary United Methodist Church. Survivors include his brother, Lloyd Douglas Earnhardt, Sr. and his wife Connie. Niece, Traci Earnhardt Hord (Robert E. Hord, Jr.), great nieces Ashlyn E. Hord and Kaitlin B. Hord. Nephew Lloyd Douglas Earnhardt, Jr. (Elena), great nephews Lloyd Douglas Earnhardt III (Hannah) and Robert Dale Earnhardt (Kaitlin). The family will receive friends from 10am to 11am on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203., with a celebration of life service at 11am. Memorials may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church 512 West Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28203. Interment will follow in the Steel Creek Presbyterian Church Memorial Cemetery.
