Obituary of Jimmy Leon Almond

Jimmy Leon Almond, 83, of Charlotte, passed away May 15, 2022. Born June 12, 1938 in Albemarle, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Shellie T. Almond and Ruby Easley Almond. Jim is an UNC alumni and an avid Tarheel fan. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his flowers, spending time with his family and watching his grandkids play sports.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 56+ years, Linda G. Almond; daughters: Jennifer Penrod and her husband, Andrew, of Charlotte, and Joanna Harrigan and her husband, David, of Tega Cay; grandchildren: Chase Blackwelder, Noah Blackwelder, Luke Penrod, Eli Penrod, Emma Penrod, Aiden Penrod, Parker Harrigan and David Harrigan, III; sister, Patty Propst and her husband, Jimmy; nephews: Tim, Trent and Todd Propst; niece, Sharon Dawson; many beloved cousins; and many more loving family and friends.

A Celebration of Jim's life will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, May 22, in the Chapel of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203.
