Obituary of James Addison Knight

James Addison Knight (84) of Charlotte, NC, died Saturday, February 12, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ethel Knight of Greensboro, NC, a brother, Edwin ‘Red’ Knight of Greensboro, and two sisters, Betty Montgomery of High Point, NC and Nancy Willis of Mississippi. Jim is survived by his wife Judy Knight, five children and fourteen grandchildren: Michael Knight of Raleigh, NC and grandsons Owen and Brandon; Elizabeth Easley (Jamie) of Youngsville, NC and grandsons Adam and Luke; Michele Simpson (Brian) of Charlotte and grandchildren Emily, Annie, Monte and Lauren; Keith Moore (Bethany) of Columbia, SC and grandsons Ethan, Wyatt and Eli; and Kevin Moore (Kimberly) of Wake Forest and grandchildren Carson, Cameron and Chanel. Jim spent his time as a young boy working on a dairy farm in Guilford County and grew up learning the importance of hard work. This showed up in his immaculate yard care throughout the years. He received his degree graduating from Wake Forest University. After his time spent serving in the US Army, Jim went on to have a long and successful career, of 39 years, as a sales and branch manager for Georgia Pacific Corporation in Raleigh. After retiring to Hammock Dunes, FL, Jim and Judy returned to North Carolina in 2015 to be closer to family. Jim was a big, fun loving man that just made everyone feel good! His energy and positive attitude brought light into a room each time he entered it! He was a person that viewed the glass "half full" no matter what the circumstances were. He loved spending time with family and all of his grandchildren. Jim spent his free time golfing and tinkering, but mostly enjoyed watching sports and cheering on his favorite team, the Wake Forest "Demon Deacons". He loved a good debate and conversation about the different players and any sports team. Jim leaves behind a legacy of Faith, kindness, service to others and devotion to his wife Judy. His loving spirit will be greatly missed! A private service and internment will be held at 11am, Saturday, February 26th at New Garden Friends cemetery at 801 New Garden Road, Greensboro.
