Obituary of Bonnie Featherson

Bonnie Rynell Featherson, 74, of Charlotte, NC passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021 with her loving family by her side. Entered the World Tuesday, September 17, 1946.

A passionate mom, grandmom, aunt, and friend. Bonnie was the only daughter of the late Lucille Mitchell Jackson and Randolph Mason.

Growing up with her family in Charlotte’s Fairview homes community, she attended West Charlotte High school where she quickly developed a reputation for her track and field skills and flair for fashion. After graduating high school, she attended Central Piedmont Community College and went on to became a salesperson with several national transportation, media, and consumer products companies. Her positive attitude and warm smile helped her become a very successful salesperson; however, her love of adventure and travel compelled her to leave sales to pursue a life-long dream of becoming a flight attendant. At the age of 51, she fulfilled her dream and became an attendant with American Airlines. Her boundless energy, positivity, and passion helped her excel in the job and established her as a beloved member of the American Airlines family. As a flight attendant, she was able to devote more time to her passions for tennis, skiing, travel, fashion, and shopping. She frequently traveled to far-off locales such as Australia, Spain, Italy, Dubai, and China for frequent tennis and shopping excursions.

Over the years, Bonnie developed many friendships - but she consistently shared her most cherished experiences with a small circle of close friends that she referred to as her tennis and travel buddies. She was also the proud matriarch of her family and often spoke glowingly of her son Mantel, his wife Michele, and their two sons, Matthew and Micah - whom she lovingly referred to as her “grandbabies”.

Bonnie’s infectiously positive personality and passion for family, friends, and fun will be missed by all who knew her.

Rest In Heaven Mom!! We Love You!!

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her brothers, Randolph Mason Jr. and John David Mason.

She is survived by her son and his family, former spouse: Cashe Featherson; and five nieces: Jacqueline Mason-Francis, Randolyn M. Davis, Jade Mason, Tonya Connor, and Tammy Lane.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. with a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 21, at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park Charlotte, NC. A reception will be held following the interment in the reception room at Sharon Memorial Park.
