Obituary of Joseph Borden McCloskey

Joseph Borden “Bordie” McCloskey

Born February 19, 1946 in Lumberton, NC.  Grew up in Red Springs, NC.  Graduated from Carolina Military Academy in Maxon, NC.  Attended Campbell University.

Bordie never met a stranger.  His friends spanned all ages, religions, races & economic backgrounds.  He loved his family, his church and all animals (except spiders).  He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

He leaves behind Delia, his wife of 48 years, daughter Dee Dee McDonald (Carl), sister Jeanie Barlow (Greg), granddaughter Lilly McDonald and constant canine companion, Blondie.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sardis Oaks Rehab, Dr. Charles Ferree at Tryon Medical Partners, The staff and physicians at Fresenius Medical Care & the amazing doctors and nurses at Atrium Main, especially Dr. Eichenburger, Dr. Gritter and Dr. Hart.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 7, 2021 beginning at 1:00 pm at Avondale Presbyterian Church, 2821 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209.

Masks are required for the service due to the Covid Virus.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Avondale Presbyterian Church, Kidney Foundation or Humane Society of Charlotte.
