Please know that we are thankful for the life of Anna Bigham Councilman! In 1956 Anna welcomed me to Steele Creek
Presbyterian Church where I was the Church Educator. I recognized her as a strong leader in the church community.
She and her cousin Frances Byrum inspired me to take time off from my job, inviting me to go with them to see a movie
and to go to the beach with them. I felt I could confide in Anna and she told me confidential information.
When I moved to Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, Anna and Frances brought Lois Williamson and Evelyn Byrum
(older members) to visit me in Virginia. The five of us enjoyed sightseeing and eating together.
When I returned to Charlotte a number of years later, my daughters and I celebrated Anna's marriage.
Years later, when I visited Anna at Sharon Towers, she always welcomed me graciously. We discussed the
TV broadcast of First Presbyterian Church which she always watched on Sunday mornings. When I visited
she always asked about members of my family. My family and I rejoice that Anna was our dear friend.
