Obituary of Norma Jane Moyer

Norma Jane Moyer, 93, passed away on October 29, 2018.  She was born in Akron, Ohio on October 8, 1925.  She grew up on the same street as her husband to be, just four doors down, on Sackett Avenue.   She attended Broad Street School and Cuyahoga Falls High School.

 

Norma loved and graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a degree in Education.  Norma married C. Wade Moyer, Jr. on June 12, 1948.  She taught English and directed plays at Gahanna High School, while Wade was in Dental School at Ohio State University.  

 

She volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher at Falls Methodist Church and devoted many years to the Reception Desk at Children’s Hospital in Akron.  She headed Junior Golf at Silver Lake Country Club. 

 

Norma is survived by two sons, Wade and Wes Moyer,  their spouses Martha and Angie Moyer, and grandchildren Meredith, married to Paul Pennino, and Wade, engaged to Joanna Florano. 

 

Preceded in death by husband, C. Wade Moyer, Jr, parents Golda and William Falb, in-laws Hazel and C. Wade Moyer, Sr., and brother Bill Falb and wife Georgette. 

 

Norma loved bridge and often played duplicate.  She was a member of the Interclub Bridge group at Glen Eagle golf and Country Club.  She loved to cook and entertain, was an avid reader, and known for making the best pie crust, a recipe passed down from Grandmother Callahan. 

 

After retirement, she lived in Marco Island and Naples Florida for 18 years.  She moved to Carriage Club in Charlotte, NC in 2004 to be near her son and family.
