Obituary of Neil Campbell

Neil Campbell, 79, went peacefully home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at his daughter's home in York, SC. He was born in Bronx, NY on October 10th, 1937 to the late John and Ethel Campbell. He graduated with honors from Charles Evans Hughes High School, aka Straunenmuller Textitle NYC in 1955. He joined the NY National Guard in 1955 and later transferred to the Florida National Guard when he moved to Florida in 1957. While in Florida, he worked for Southern Bell and graduated from University of Florida in 1962. He moved to NC in 1963 where he became a supervisor during his career with Celanese in Charlotte, NC. He is survived by his daughter, Sabrina, and her husband, Walter (Chip) Colvin; five granddaughters, Rachel, of Lake Wylie, SC, Laura, of York, SC, Lydia, of College Station, TX, Dianna, and Madeline, both of Columbia, SC, and his great grandson, Holden Colvin of Lake Wylie, SC. His former wife, Rachel Campbell, his sister, Louise Ring, of Florida, his brothers, John Campbell, of Louisiana and he is predeceased by Malcom Campbell. May those who knew him always remember his quick wit, his great love for NYC and pizza, and also his favorite saying while battling cancer, "At least we can still laugh, and as long as we can laugh we will be okay". A Graveside Service with Military Rites will be held at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte on Friday, September 29, 2017 with the Rev. Mark Crews officiating.
