Obituary of Faye Smith

Faye M. Smith Mrs. Smith, 83, of Charlotte, died May 24, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital. She was born March 6, 1926 in Cabarrus County, daughter of the late Frank L. and Velna Montooth. Mrs. Smith was a member of the former Westover Hills Presbyterian Church for 54 years and currently a member of Steele Creek Presbyterian Church. She retired from Duke Power in 1984 after 36 years of service. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Coy A. Smith; a brother, Charles R. Montooth; and a sister, Barbara (Bobbie) Montooth. She is survived by a brother, Frank L. (Monty) Montooth; nieces, Jane Burke and her husband, Kenny, Susan Harvell and her husband, Mark, and Gail S. Crayton, and Anne Lynn Montooth; sister-in-law Mavie Montooth; one grandniece and three grandnephews and her special dear friend, Margaret Cline Wert. Funeral service for Mrs. Smith will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 27, 2009 in the chapel of Hankins and Whittington, 1111 East Blvd with Reverend Valerie H. Phillips of Steele Creek Presbyterian Church officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 at Hankins and Whittington.
