Obituary of Evelyn Atwell

Mrs. Atwell of Nashville, TN, and formerly of Charlotte, NC, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in the Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. Mrs. Atwell was born May 18, 1927, in York County, SC, a daughter of the late William Henry and Ida Smith Barnette. In addition to her parent Mrs. Atwell was preceded in death by her husband James Alburn Atwell, four sisters and two brothers. Survivors include sons, Charles Edward Atwell and wife, Darlene of McCormick, SC, and James Alan Atwell and wife, Michele of Nashville, TN; sister-in-law, Mozelle Carson Barnette of York, SC; grandchildren, Michelle A. Christian, Sandra A. Huffstetler and Charles E. Atwell, Jr.; eight great grandchildren and also many neices and nephews that she loved dearly. Special thanks to Mr. Paul C. Cost, Jr., Evelyn's best friend and companion of seven years. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 17, 2012, in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service with Dr. Bill Cain, Mrs. Atwell's nephew officiating. The family will receive friends at the Hankins & Whittington from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday afternoon and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will follow the service in Sharon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St. Nashville, TN, 37203 or to the charity of the donor?s choice.
