Obituary of Eula Quarles

Eula Mae Quarles Mrs. Quarles, 98, of Charlotte died Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews, NC. She was born September 10, 1914, in Concord, TN a daughter of the late Lloyd and Lelia Bevins Larkey. While living in Kingsport, TN, Eula Mae met her late husband, J. Fred Quarles and they raised their family there. Mrs. Quarles lived in Orlando, FL for many years before moving to Charlotte, NC in 1986. She was an active member of Providence Baptist Church and the Faith-Lydia Sunday school class. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Quarles was preceded in death by her brother, I.W. Larkey and sister, Lucille Repass. Survivors include her daughter, Betts Pyatt and husband, David of Charlotte, NC; son, Jon Quarles and wife, Tabby of St. Louis, MO; sister, Betty Caton and husband, Horace of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Shelley Calhoun and husband, Patrick of Raleigh, NC, Shannon Richards and husband, Peter of Charlotte, NC, Lee Quarles and wife, Jane of St. Louis, MO, Megan Price and husband, Mark of Morristown, TN and Claralyn Bollinger and husband, Matt of St. Louis, MO; twelve great grandchildren and special nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Weddington Park in Matthews, NC and Brookdale Place of South Charlotte for the care and kindness shown to Mrs. Quarles and her family. A service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 11, 2013, at Providence Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Al Cadenhead, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the rotunda of the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Rd., Charlotte, NC 28211 or the charity of the Donor?s choice.
