Obituary of Bertha Kirkpatrick

Bertha Lee Kirkpatrick Mrs. Kirkpatrick, 89, died Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Mecklenburg Health Care Center. A native Charlottean, Bertha Lee was born May 15, 1923. She was raised at the Barium Springs Home for Children in Huntersville, NC and retired from the Federal Reserve as an accountant after twenty years of service. Bertha Lee loved her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining. Mrs. Kirkpatrick and her late husband, John Brown Kirkpatrick were known as the entertainers in their neighborhood. In addition to her husband, Bertha Lee was preceded in death by her son, Johnny B. Kirkpatrick, Jr. Survivors include her son, Tommy Kirkpatrick and wife, Jenny of Charlotte, NC; granddaughters, Christin Kirkpatrick Vincent and husband, Randy of Sunset, SC, Megan Kirkpatrick of Charlotte, NC, Kayle Kirkpatrick Hall and husband, Mike of Charlotte, NC, Josh Phipps of Charlotte, NC and Jonathan Kirkpatrick of Clover, SC and eight great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Mecklenburg Health Care Center for the care and compassion shown to Mrs. Kirkpatrick and her family. A service to celebrate her life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, January 19, 2013, in the Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. The family will receive friends following the service.
