Obituary of James Honeycutt

Lieutenant Colonel James Davis Honeycutt, Ret., 92, of Charlotte, NC, died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at CMC Mercy. He was born in Cornelius, NC on September 26, 1920, son of the late L. Boyd and Mary Nantz Honeycutt. Colonel Honeycutt graduated from Cornelius High School and attended Davidson College. He served in the US Army and Army National Guard for over thirty years including tours in World War II and Korea. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, the Men?s Sunday School Class and worked with the Prison Ministry. He was also a member of The Gideons International and volunteered at Crisis Assistance Ministries. Mr. Honeycutt is survived by his wife, Oma; son, James Maurice Honeycutt and his wife, Pam of Harrisburg, NC; daughter, Karen Honeycutt Reynolds and her husband, Pat of Charlotte, NC; six grandchildren, Lisa Frye, Bryan Church, Chris, Brett, Matt and Aaron Honeycutt, and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Honeycutt was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, February 14, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Charlotte with Dr. Mark Harris officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church on Thursday.
