Obituary of Geoffrey M. Miller

Geoffrey M. Miller Geoffrey M. Miller, 39, of Charlotte, NC, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Presbyterian Hospital after a courageous, hard-fought battle with colorectal cancer. A memorial service to celebrate Geoff's life will be held Saturday, April 20th at 1 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Wytheville, VA. A gathering of family and friends will take place immediately following the service in Wesley Hall. Geoff was born in Rochester, MN in 1973. He graduated from Flintridge Preparatory School in La Canada, CA, in 1991. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity at the University of the Pacific where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1995. He earned an MBA from Wake Forest University in 2006. Geoff was a kind and gentle person who would instantly charm all those he met. He was a man of integrity and admirable character and he lived life to the fullest. He loved mountain biking; playing tennis; traveling; reading; immersing himself in U.S. history; and fishing on the banks of the mighty Reed Creek with his mother-in-law, Margaret A. King. He enjoyed single-barrel bourbon, all things French and found great amusement in patiently explaining "southernisms" to his family, such as: "barbeque is a noun, not a verb" and "just what are grits anyway." Most importantly, Geoff was an adoring, loving husband to Stacey and a head-over-heels devoted father to Finian. He is survived by his wife, Stacey King Miller and his son, Finian Henry Miller; his father, John H. Miller of Los Angeles, CA; his mother, Veronica Blake of Tucson, AZ; sister, Veronica Miller Murray and brother-in-law, Morgan of Walnut Creek, CA; and Geoff's favorite uncle, Jim Miller and aunt Angela of St. Clair Shores, MI.
