Obituary of John Thomas Reidy

John Thomas Reidy III Mr. Reidy stepped-off that E-Ticket ride he called life on March 12, 2013 after a lengthy battle with melanoma. He was born in the fan district of Richmond, VA in the sizzling summer of 1951, to his proud parents Eleanor and Jack Reidy. John is survived by his wife, soulmate, and best friend Marianne, his son Jack Reidy of Charlotte, his "older sister" Eleanor Reidy of Annapolis, MD, his brother Henry Reidy, and his wife Tanya Cauthen, his nephews Hank and Robert of Richmond, VA., his sister and brother in law Jennysue and Mike Mott of Tega Cay, SC and their family, and his faithful companion Mimi the Wonder Dog. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his younger sister Laura Reidy. In 1968 John began his broadcasting career, due to strong family connections, at WTVR-TV while still in high school at Thomas Jefferson, Richmond Va. In 1976 John moved to Charlotte, to work for a division of Jefferson-Pilot Communications installing business software in broadcast stations around the country. In the early 90's he joined a Silicon Valley startup, International Network Services, and spent ten years designing and supporting complex data networks for a variety of clients worldwide. The last seven years John has helped manage a small family owned print finishing firm in Charlotte, where he enjoyed working with his son Jack and his good friend Terry Reidy. Although he had multiple careers, the one constant in his life was his love and appreciation of music of all genres, a trait he attributed to his dad. Whether working as a sound engineer at a concert, sitting in the seats as a fan, or kicking back in his living room listening to his vast music collection, music always made him smile. John inherited a love for cooking and the appreciation of a good bar from his mother. In keeping with this theme, there will be gathering to celebrate John's life at Belle Acres Country Club in Charlotte NC, time and date TBD. In lieu of flowers, John asked that donations be made to the North Mecklenburg Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 241, Harrisburg, NC 28075, www.nothmeckanimalrescue.org - the great folks that brought him Mimi the Wonder Dog. The preceding was written by John. He loved a good story, a great cigar, a tasty martini and lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by his family and his large circle of friends. His family wishes to thank The Levine Cancer Institute's Dr Asim Amin, Denise Hogan RN, ANP-BC, and Dr. Stuart Burri and their teams for the excellent care given to John throughout his illness. We would also like to thank, and ask that you consider donations in John's name to, Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region. They provided excellent care and unending compassion during his final weeks, especially his primary nurse Julie. The road goes on forever and the party never ends.
