Obituary of Betty Ritchie McKern

Betty Ritchie McKern Mrs. McKern, 84 of Charlotte, NC passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013. She was born on June 15, 1928 in Charlotte to the late Paul and Mary Tidy Irwin Ritchie. She attended Central High School before working for Carolinas Healthcare System for 29 years. Betty actively attended Dilworth Baptist Church and loved her church family dearly. In June of 1950 she married the love of her life, C.P. (Mack) McKern to whom she was happily married until his death in 2002. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, P.L. Ritchie and three sisters, Sarah Miller, Nancy Mann and Effie Gray. Betty is survived by her son, Carl McKern and his wife, Judy of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Alysia McKern, of Mt. Holly, NC; step grandchildren, Chris Holbrooks and his wife, Chandra, Scott Smith and his wife, Julie, and Matthew Watson and his wife, Holly, all of Denver, NC; six great grandchildren; brother, Bill Ritchie and his wife, Jean; and nine nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mrs. McKern will be held 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, in the chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Wednesday.
