Obituary of Ruth Fletcher

Ruth Ramsey Fletcher Mrs. Fletcher, 92, died Easter Sunday. A native Charlottean, Ruth was born November 18, 1920, to the late Charles and Ora Marshall Ramsey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Fletcher, Jr., and four siblings, Elizabeth, Miriam, Marshall and Charles. Ruth graduated from Central High in 1939 and Duke University School of Nursing in 1944. She was an avid fan of Duke Basketball and a great lover of history and nature. For over 50 years she served in the music and children's ministries at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church and sang in the choirs of Pritchard Memorial Baptist, Park Road Baptist and the Duke Chapel. We were blessed by her graciousness and amazed by her strength! Ruth is survived by her three daughters, Susan (Danny) Phillips, Jody (Michael) Herndon and Charlotte Fletcher; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Marc) Parker, Clay (Meredith) Phillips, Leslie Herndon and Lisa (Mark) Turner; four great-grandchildren, Lillian Parker, George and Dottie Collins Phillips, and Adelaide Grace Turner. A service to celebrate Ruth's life will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Park Road Baptist Church, 3900 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209.
