Obituary of Robert Baxter Arnold

Robert Baxter Arnold, Sr. Mr. Arnold, 87, of Charlotte, NC, died Monday, April 29, 2013 at Asbury Care Center. He was born on May 7, 1925 in Lexington, NC, son of the late John D. Arnold and Florence Lamb Arnold. He was a retired United Methodist Minister in the Western North Carolina Conference. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Peeler Arnold. Mr. Arnold is also recognized by his service to the United States Military, Eighth Air Force, in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns of World War II. He is survived by three sons, Robert Baxter Arnold, Jr. and his wife, Susan, David Andrew Arnold and his wife, Susan, and Michael Peeler Arnold and his wife, Elizabeth; grandchildren, Kimberly Arnold Partee and her husband, Jonathan, Larkin Amanda Arnold, Corey Andrew Arnold and Colin Padgett Arnold; great-grandson, Tyler Christopher Partee, great-grand daughter Arielle Leigh Arnold and great grandson Nathaniel Riley. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church with the Rev. Andrew Brown, Rev. Jamie Armstrong and Rev. Elizabeth Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow at 5:30 p.m. in the Shiloh United Church of Christ Cemetery in Faith, NC. The family will receive friends in the parlor of Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Jean Peeler Arnold and Robert B. Arnold Preschool Scholarship Fund c/o Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church, 501 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28204.
