Obituary of William Carl Pressley

William Carl Pressley, Jr. Mr. Pressley, 78, of Lake Wylie, SC and formerly of Charlotte, NC passed away on May 5, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center-Pineville. He was born on November 15, 1934 in Union County, NC son of the late, William C. and Dorothy Crump Pressley. Mr. Pressley retired in 1994 from a 40 year career in the United States Army. He was very active in his church and community, volunteering as a recruiter for CROP walk where he received the Ryburn Walker Award for his dedication. Mr. Pressley also volunteered his time with Loaves & Fishes for over 20 years and most notably, he donated 93 gallons of blood and platelets for the American Red Cross. Mr. Pressley was also a Past Master of Steele Creek Masonic Lodge #737 AF&AM. He was a faithful husband and a selfless and charitable man who would do anything for anyone. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his honorary parents, Thomas and Mary Hoover; brother, Johnny Pressley; sisters, Mae Smith, Joanne Griffin and Barbara Griffin; and a grandson Joshua Holden Pressley. Mr. Pressley is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Hoover Pressley; sons, Randy Carl Pressley and his wife, Debbie and Michael Jay Pressley and his wife, Patty; granddaughters, Kasee Neal and her husband, Jason, Kaylan Pressley and Madeline Pressley; great-granddaughter, Rylee Jean Neal; brothers, David Pressley and Homer Pressley; sisters Linda Honeycutt and Marie Griffin; brother-in-law, Tommy Hoover and his wife, Sally and sister-in-law, Pat Tesh and her husband, Herb, sister-in-law Cathy Marrow and her husband, Steve; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Calvary United Methodist Church. Interment with full military honors will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church for one hour prior to the service.
