Obituary of Peggy Dixon Moffett

Peggy Dixon Moffett, 82, departed this life June 3, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital. A native Charlottean, Peggy was the only child born to Cyrus W. and Ola Dixon. She was a member of the Central High Class of 1948 and attended Lees-McRae College. In her early years she was employed as a lab technician. Later she became a Realtor and enjoyed a long and successful career in sales and management. Peggy was devoted to her husband, Frank, who preceded her in death five years ago. They enjoyed their close knit family, Mark Moffett (Teri), Ann Marie Burke (Barry) and Paul Moffett (Becki). She is survived by her six granddaughters, Rebecca & Alexis Moffett, Addie & Kalah Burke and Maggie and Janey Moffett. She will also be missed by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law; Benton and Wanda Moffett of Mooresville, NC. Moffett's Misty Mountain in Deep Gap, Ashe County, NC was Frank and Peggy's second home for forty years and was the scene of many happy memories. Peggy's passion was her volunteer work with the General Federation of Women's Clubs. She was a 50 year member of the GFWC-NC and served as President of both the Charlotte Junior Woman's Club and the GFWC-NC. She cherished her clubwomen friends and was a mentor to many. Peggy also served as a Precinct Official for many years. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd. in Charlotte. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Ann's Catholic Church, 3635 Park Road at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 6. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
