Obituary of Keith Smith

Bobby Keith Smith, 63, of Charlotte, NC died June 4, 2013 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born in Gastonia, NC, son of the late Thomas Daniel Smith and Corrie Ellen Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Nicole Smith. Keith enjoyed a successful career of over three decades in the film and broadcast industry working as an Electronic Field Production Director of Photography for WSOC TV since 1972. Over the course of his career he was recognized for his outstanding accomplishments as a photographer, lighting director and producer. He was a storyteller using the lens of his camera to make us all feel a part of the adventure and experience the emotion of the journey. His touch and talents could be easily recognized in his work. He won numerous awards and recognitions for his work among them were Emmy, Addie and Telly Awards. He worked on a series of programs with the Grey Seal Puppets, Kidsworld, Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, and Eyewitness Journal to name a few. Keith's journey while way too brief was filled with all the things he loved; most of all his family. He will always be remembered for creating beauty through his camera lens and sharing it with the world. He leaves behind his loving wife, Linda Smith; his daughter, Katie Buckner and her husband, Ken of Garland, Texas; granddaughter, Kaylen Buckner; his loving brother, Max Smith of Charlotte, NC, as well as many other family members and all of his television family. They all will miss him and he will be with us all forever and missed every single day. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, June 15, 2013 at King's Way Baptist Church, 7550 Ruben Linker Road NW, Concord, NC. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
