Obituary of John Morris Laney

John Morris Laney of Charlotte, NC, was called home to be with the Lord on April 21, 2024.

John was born on September 18, 1965, to Bill and Bette Laney.

He was a loving son, loyal brother, and a caring uncle to his family. John was always there to give a needed laugh, with his giant smile and witty remarks. He never met a stranger and loved being around his friends and family. He was well loved and will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Laney, sister-in-law, Jan Laney, and niece, Lindsey Laney. He is survived by his mother, Bette Laney, his brothers Michael Laney (Susan) and Jeff Laney (Loretta), and sister Liz Hartsoe. He is also survived by his nieces, Shannon Pressley (Josh), Jessie Nash (Taylor), his nephew Josh Laney, three great-nephews, one great-niece, and many more loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203. A graveside service will take place at 11 AM on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, 17315 Pleasant Grove Road, Charlotte, NC 28216.
