Obituary of Roger Milton Schmidt

Roger Milton Schmidt, who had a joy for life and a keen sense of humor, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on February 16, 2024, in Charlotte, North Carolina, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 11, 1935, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he spent his entire career with dedication and loyalty at 3M. He was a proud graduate of the University of Minnesota, enriching his life and those around him with the knowledge he gained there.

Roger was a man of many interests, with a particular passion for the serenity of gardening and the joy of assembling his Department 56 Christmas Village, which brought delight to many during the holiday seasons.

He is survived by his cherished wife of 63 years, Nancy Schmidt, and their children Susan, Steve, Tom (Janet), Jan (Dan), and Peggy. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren Lauren, Reid, Bogue, TJ, Karlee, Courtney, Eliese, Nicole, Taylor, Morgan, Brianna, Hunter, and Alec, and his nine great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy. Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Alan and his son-in-law, Casey Brawley.

Roger's absence will be profoundly felt by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His life was a testament to his values, work ethic, and the love he harbored for his family. May he find eternal rest and peace.
