Obituary of Elizabeth C. Sohn

Elizabeth “Beth” Chipley Sohn, 74, of Charlotte, NC died May 19, 2018.

She was born in Charlotte in 1943 to the late Walter Carroll Chipley and Geneva Morford Chipley.

The family will receive friends at the home in Charlotte on Saturday, June 9, 2018.  In accordance with Beth’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.

Beth attended Pfeiffer College and earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  She was a caseworker for the Mecklenburg County Center of Human Development, serving children with developmental disabilities.

Beth enjoyed playing the guitar and singing, cooking and gardening and she loved her cats and dogs.  She was known for her sense of humor and her love of musician John Prine.  She also enjoyed New York City, the Catskill Mountains and Topsail Beach.  She was known as “GranBeth” to her step-grandchildren, by whom she was adored.

Beth is survived by her husband of 34 years, David Sohn of Charlotte; two brothers, Thomas Julian Chipley of Mount Jackson, VA. and John Chipley of Germantown, TN.
