Obituary of Anne Crane

Mrs. Anne Fedorovich Crane Mrs. Crane passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father and loved ones the morning of Thursday, February 16, 2012. She was born February 6, 1923 in Exeter, Pennsylvania, the seventh child of Polish immigrants Teophilia and Stanley Fedorovich. After Teophilia died in childbirth with twins when Anne was three, her oldest sister Rose helped Stanley raise the family. During WWII, Anne made her way to New York City and worked for AT&T. There she met her husband, William Kingsley Crane of Charlotte, NC, who had just come back from serving in the Air Force. She said he would always wait for her at the top of the subway steps, and she could not resist his bright blue eyes. They married in New York and moved to Charlotte in 1947. Anne and Bill raised seven children and had six grandchildren. Anne worked in real estate and was a lifetime member of the NC Board of Realtors. Fiercely independent, Anne lived alone and without assistance until a recent stroke. She loved to work in her home and garden and even mowed her own large yard with a push lawnmower. To Anne, every moment was a blessing. She was a strong, loving woman of deep faith who will always serve as a source of pride and inspiration to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Kingsley Crane and her son, Robert Stanley Crane. She is survived by four daughters, Sally Anne Parham, Susan Elizabeth Crane, and Sandra Marie Crane of Charlotte, and Rebecca Jean Crane of Alexandria, Virginia; two sons William Kingsley Crane Jr. and James Stephen Crane; and six grandchildren Ana Lee Parham; James Stephen Crane Jr., William Frank Crane, Carson Hurst Crane, (and mother Irene Hurst Crane); and William Kingsley Crane III, Kenton Ward Crane, (and mother Karen Thies Crane). The family will receive friends at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service Sunday afternoon February 19, 2012 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery will be private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Angels, 6600 Wilkinson Blvd Belmont, NC 28012-2796, (704) 825-4161 www.holyangelsnc.org
