Obituary of Charles Bishop

Charles S. Bishop Mr. Bishop, 87, of Charlotte, NC, died at Carolinas Medical Center on Friday, March 20, 2009. Mr. Bishop was born September 19, 1921 in Newberry, SC son of the late Bennett and Mamie Buzzard Bishop. A member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, Mr. Bishop enjoyed singing and helping anyone who was in need. He retired from Duke Power as a field representative after 43 years of service. In addition to his parents Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by nine siblings. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Frances J. Bishop of Charlotte, NC; son, Andrew Bishop of Belmont, NC; daughter, Robin Owen of Charlotte, NC; sister, Frances Woodruff of Santa Barbara, CA. Also surviving are four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Mr. Bishop will be held Tuesday, March 24, at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Baptist Church with the Reverend Earl Pennell officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hankins & Whittington Monday evening, March 23, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Memorials may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church, 4622 Nations Crossing Rd. Charlotte, NC 28217
