Obituary of Cathy Meyer Burnett

Cathy Lynn Meyer Burnett Cathy Lynn Meyer Burnett, 60, loving wife of Wayne Burnett, made her journey to Heaven on Monday, May 4, 2009 from Carolinas Medical Center after a long courageous battle with Cancer. Mrs. Burnett was born July 8, 1948, a daughter of Harry Franklin Meyer and the late Betty Jane Rollins Meyer. She moved to Charlotte in July, 1970 from Ohio and was a licensed cosmetologist for many years. She later was employed as a metal fabricator with Dravo and then as an industrial welder with ITT Grinnell, where she worked for 17 years. Most recently she was a vending representative with Fordway Services. Mrs. Burnett was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church where she was a devoted member for over 31 years. She was head of the Altar Guild and the Bereavement Committee and was active with LWML. Since her diagnosis of breast cancer in 2001, lung and liver cancer in 2008 and brain cancer in 2009, Cathy fought this disease with courage and strength, never losing faith! In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Dean P. Burnett of Charlotte, Dale W. Burnett and his wife, Crystal of Pineville, Ricky A. Burnett of Louisville, KY and Tommy McVey and his wife, Robin of Frankfort, OH; a daughter, Leslie Sue Evans and her husband, Charles of Miamisburg, OH; twelve grandchildren, Holly, Melanie, Tyler, Matthew and Brookelyn Burnett, Christopher and Konnor Marthers, Tommy Jr, Tori and Shanni McVey, Brandon and Sean Evans; one great grandchild, Jet Wood. A service to celebrate Cathy?s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009 at All Saints Lutheran Church, 17030 Lancaster Highway, Charlotte, NC . The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to All Saints Lutheran
