Obituary of Vernon McGuire

Vernon Clifford McGuire Mr. McGuire, 81, widower of Melba L. McGuire, died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center. He was born August 12, 1928 in Roanoke, Virginia, a son of the late James Irvin McGuire and Susie Lyons McGuire. Mr. McGuire was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Military Policeman with the U.S. Army Air Corp during the occupation of Japan. He was retired from Binswanger Glass of Charlotte where he worked for over 25 years. Vernon loved fishing and Nascar. Mr. McGuire is survived by five daughters, Karan Mullis and her husband, Wayne of Charlotte, Shelia Quinn and her husband, Leroy of Mt. Holly, NC, Pam Carter and her husband, Barry of Charlotte, Carla Shaw and her husband, Mike of Whiteville, NC and Tonya McGuire of Denver, NC; one son, Michael McGuire and his wife, Sherry of Dublin, VA; one sister, Ruth Jean Hall of Dublin, VA; 12 grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. Funeral service for Mr. McGuire will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 in the chapel of Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 Noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
