Obituary of James Chicklistas

James T. Chicklistas Mr. Chicklistas, 73, of Charlotte died Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at his home. He was born January 2, 1936 in Voutirou, Karpenisi, Greece, son of the late Tony and Helen Nickopoulos Tsiklistas. A member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, James was very involved in the Greek community and a restaurant owner in Charlotte for thirty-five years. He also love the gardening and fishing. James had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Chicklistas is survived by his wife, Catherine; a daughter, Lena Bakis and her husband, Tommy of Matthews, NC; a son, Anthony Chicklistas and his wife, Maria of Zebulon, NC; three grandchildren, Andrew and Evan Bakis and Demetris Chicklistas; two brothers, John Tsiklistas and George Chikas, both of Albany, Georgia; a sister, Evridiki Cortessis of Winston-Salem, NC; and eight nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Mr. Chicklistas will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral with the Reverend Michael Varvarelis, Reverend Efstathios Varvarelis and the Reverend Tommy Vlahos officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The Trisagion will be at the Cathedral on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Arthur Pappas, George Retsios, Spero Stathopoulos, Andy Cortessis, Tony Tsiklistas and Tony Chikas.
