Obituary of Rose Greenberg

ROSE FIRESTONE GREENBERG Mrs. Greenberg, age 99, of Charlotte, NC, died on Wednesday May 20, 2009 at the Sardis Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Charlotte. Mrs. Greenberg was a native New Yorker, and moved to Charlotte from Briarwood, NY in 2005. She was born on August 28, 1909 in New York City to the late Max and Anna Slutsky Firestone. Mrs. Greenberg graduated from Teachers Training School in New York. She was a homemaker, and a teacher, and a member of Brandeis Study Groups, and a life member of Hadassah. She loved to read. She married her childhood sweetheart Henry Greenberg, whom she adored, on July 6, 1930. They were married for over 63 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Greenberg was preceded in death by her husband Henry Greenberg who passed away in 1993, and her six siblings. She is survived by her daughter Ruth G. Brandt of Charlotte, NC and her son Stephen (and his wife Libby) Greenberg of Chapel Hill, NC; four grandchildren, Debra Foster, (and her husband Michael Jaffa), Kim Foster, Daniel ( and his wife Rebecca) Greenberg, and Melissa (and her husband Dan) Ryan; and three great-grandchildren, Brooks Jaffa, Emily Jaffa and Megan Greenberg. Graveside services will be held at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Glendale, NY on Sunday May 24, 2009.
